An entrepreneur farmer from birth, “G.L.” has worn many hats and walked many roads to give his family the opportunities they have today. He was born and raised buying and selling property and livestock: a family tradition handed down to him. He worked at Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1971 until 1987 as a Master Electrician. He also raised Angus cattle, hogs, horses, goats, and more - this is a man that never sat still! He purchased Spring Valley in 1977 and the rest is history!

There is no harder worker than
Mrs. Carolyn Simmons, who was born and raised in Bedford County from cattle farmer stock. Her greatest passions in life are God, her husband, and her children. Carolyn met Garland when she was just fifteen years old, and the rest is history. They married and began raising children and livestock, buying and selling property, and building their dream into reality. She is still a busy bee and enjoys providing for her family in a multitude of ways.

Owner

The youngest child of four, Chad was helping his dad break horses and ponies to ride and drive as soon as he could walk! The family tradition of raising livestock and buying property remains two of his many interests today. Chad is most passionate about his belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and spends most of his free time spreading the Gospel in Southwest Virginia. Mr. Simmons has four children he cherishes and enjoys watching them grow up.

Manager

With an Irish farming father from the Midwest and a Polish immigrant mother from the Bronx, Michelle came to Spring Valley in 2014 with a diverse background. She had been riding since she was very young and came to the farm to board her horse… and never left.
